Which NPQ is right for me?

It is worth spending a little time exploring the new suite of NPQs to make sure that you are selecting the right one for you.  We have also included the DfE Content Frameworks as these provide a full overview of the 'Learn that' and 'Learn how to' statements that both providers we work with have covered through their blend of synchronous and asynchronous learning.

 

NPQLT - Leading Teaching

Those leading teaching have the potential to cultivate a culture of high expectations across the school and enable all pupil needs to be met.

With influence over classroom practice, curriculum and pedagogy as well as professional development and implementation, leaders of teaching play a vital role in school improvement.

The National Professional Qualification for Leading Teaching (NPQLT) is aimed at teachers who lead, or aspire to lead, teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase. Responsibilities may include managing a team of teachers and supporting effective teaching across a school.

NPQLTD - Leading Teacher Development

Those leading teacher development have the potential to nurture a culture of professional learning that enables staff and pupils to thrive.

With influence over the design and delivery of professional development as well as implementation, leaders of teacher development play a vital role in school improvement.

The National Professional Qualification for Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD) is aimed at teachers who lead, or aspire to lead, the development of other teachers in their school. Responsibilities may include the development of all teachers across a school or specifically trainees or teachers who are early in their career.

NPQLBC - Leading Behaviour and Culture

Those leading behaviour and culture have the potential to cultivate a behaviour system that nurtures a culture for learning and enables all pupils to thrive.

With influence over school culture and support for those with complex needs as well as professional development and implementation, leaders of behaviour and culture play a vital role in school improvement.

The National Professional Qualification for Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC) is aimed at teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading behaviour and/or supporting pupil wellbeing in their school. Responsibilities may include ensuring good behaviour and a culture of high expectations and learning are maintained across the school. 

It is also suitable for those members of the team who are responsible for leading behaviour and/or supporting pupil wellbeing but do not hold QTS. For example, non-teaching Heads of Year and Teaching Assistants.

NPQLL - Leading Literacy

Those leading literacy have the potential to cultivate a culture of high expectations for literacy teaching across the school and enable all pupils to achieve their potential.

The National Professional Qualification for Leading Literacy is aimed at teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading literacy across a school, year group, key stage or phase.

NPQLPM - Leading Primary Mathematics

Those leading primary mathematics have the potential to cultivate a culture of high expectations for mastery teaching for mathematics across the school and enable all pupils to achieve their potential.

The National Professional Qualification for Leading Primary Mathematics is aimed at teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading primary mathematics teaching across a school, key stage or phase.

Participants taking this course should have a secure level of understanding of approaches to mastery teaching for mathematics. This should come througn a minimum of 1 year's participation of the Maths Hubs Teaching for Mastery programme, or a programme equivalent. This course will allow them to deepen their knowledge of mastery approaches to teaching mathematics and embed these approaches across a school.
