Induction Lead/Tutor
The Induction Lead/Tutor ensures that the induction is proceeding correctly and assesses the ECTs progress against the Teachers Standards, recognising when early action is needed in the case of an ECT experiencing difficulties.
The role of the Induction Lead/Tutor is separate to that of the Mentor, but in some cases the Mentor and the Induction Lead/Tutor could be the same person, if that person has the experience to make rigorous judgments, for example the Headteacher.
Other key elements of this role include:
- Registering their school on the DfE portal and ensuring that details are up to date, such as any changes to Mentor details
- Registering the ECT onto a suitable induction programme or providing an in-house programme that maintains fidelity to the ECF
- Registering the ECT with an Appropriate Body
